FACTS and FIGURES
What is going to keep the US economy running when the era of cheap oil is over? Petroleum hit $90 a barrel last year.
Meanwhile, the grave cost of securing supplies became clear as the Iraq war dragged into its fourth year. Al Gore completed the trifecta with his Oscar-winning celluloid screed, An Inconvenient Truth, highlighting the environmental toll of burning fossil fuels. So the rush is on to bring alternatives to a voracious energy market.
The biggest surprise: After decades as an alt-energy backwater, solar power is suddenly a growth industry. Historically, solar has been prohibitively expensive. But in the past year, economies of scale have finally started to kick in. Google, Microsoft, and Sharp outfitted facilities with panels, and Wal-Mart solicited bids to solarize as many as 340 of its big-box rooftops.
WHAT IS SOLAR
Photovoltaic technology is considered to be the most promising and elegant means of renewable energy production for the present time and the future. Sun will provides us with easy and reliable way of converting sunlight directly into electricity for our homes and offices.
PV-generated power offers advantages over diesel generators, primary (one-time use) batteries, and even conventional utility power. These benefits make PV the power of choice in more and more cases every day:
With no moving parts, the cells require little upkeep. These low-maintenance, cost-effective PV systems are ideal for supplying power.
HOW IT WORKS
A solar panel applies the same principal as a generator, but the difference is in the composition of the internal mechanism of generation. A generator uses a motor to generate through electromagnetism principals while the solar panel uses the chemical composition of minerals to compose a unit which when exposed to sunlight converts the light energy into electric energy.
A photo voltaic cell is made using silicon elements. The silicon chip is light dependent and when exposed to the sunlight it generates an electric current, as such it is powered by the solar energy. This means that solar energy is converted to electric energy through this mechanism. Solar energy is one of the great revolutions of the science industry. Solar panels are driven by the intensity of the solar energy, and the higher the intensity the higher the output of the solar energy.
WHY SOLAR
Global warming is the greatest environmental threat facing the planet today. The evidence is in and the debate about whether it is happening is over. As just one piece of evidence, Frank Nutter, President of the Reinsurance Association of America, recently was quoted saying that because of the high property losses due to extreme weather during the past two decades, climate change "could bankrupt the industry."
(Source: Northwest Council on Climate Change) So how do we fight this problem? The single largest contributor to global warming is pollution from energy generation. We cannot reverse global warming without a transition to renewable energy. Everyone agrees that renewable energy could clean the air, stave off global warming, and help eliminate our nation's dependence on fossil fuels from overseas. Is it just a dream ? Not anymore. Not when we can find ways to make renewable energy pay for itself
People decide to buy solar energy systems for a variety of reasons. Many want to help preserve the earth's finite fossil-fuel resources and reduce pollution. Buying a solar energy system is a powerful and direct way for you to help protect the environment, and make a long-lasting commitment to the planet's future.
Others would rather spend their money on an energy-producing improvement to their property than to send their money to a utility or fuel company. Some people like the security of renewable energy, because it makes them less vulnerable to future increases in electricity and fossil fuel prices. Others are interested because renewable energy systems can provide emergency power in case of storms or other power system failures. Finally, some people just don't like paying utility bills and appreciate the independence that renewable energy provides. All of these are good reasons! The Renewable Energy Resource Center web-site can help you learn more why many consider solar energy to be the choice for the future. We can also help you decide if a solar hot water or solar electric system makes sense for you.
BENEFIT OF SOLAR
Federal, State, and Municipal incentives combined may save you 45% to 65% on the acquisition costs of solar system
First It allows you to generate your own independent electric energy for your home or business.
Second As the energy prices rising each day and putting a big hole in our pockets how can we not afford using alternative energy? Third with all the environmental problems in the world such as green house affect and pollution by adding carbon dioxide and other gases in to the atmosphere and causes sea water level to rise and rapid temperature changes and also add value to your property.
Solar is the answer! By generating your own electricity, you can take an important step in helping to protect yourself against an uncertain energy future and be independent to foreign oil and sleep well at nights knowing you are now part of a solution not a problem any more .
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
Because they burn no fuel and have no moving parts, PV systems are clean and silent. This is especially important where the main alternatives for obtaining power and light are from diesel genertors and kerosene lanterns.
As we become more aware of "greenhouse gases" and their detrimental effects on our planet, clean energy alternatives like PV become more important than ever.
As we begin to realize and respect the fragility of our planet's ecosystem, clean power choices like PV become extremely important. |
